PUBLIC NOTICE
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO MUNICIPAL PLAN
AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS
The Town of GLOVERTOWN has received a request to amend its Municipal
Plan and Development Regulations to add “agricultural tourism” as a
Discretionary Use class in the Rural Resource and Agriculture zones.
The change would give Council discretionary authority (subject to public
notice and comments) to consider applications for the following types of
activities that would be subsidiary to an existing crop or livestock farm:
• farm tours and agricultural education (e.g. school visits, gardening
courses, equestrian courses)
• recreation (e.g. horseback riding, trail rides, archery target shooting)
• entertainment (e.g. wagon and sled rides, equestrian events)
• hospitality (e.g. overnight farm stays)
• catering (e.g. harvest dinners, farm lunches)
This will allow Council to consider a proposal for tourism development on an
existing horse farm north of Station Road near the Trans Canada Highway.
Council invites public comments on the proposed change. The proposed
amendments are available for viewing at the Town Office and on our website
(www.glovertown.net). They will also be emailed on request.
Comments or objections may be submitted in writing to the Town Clerk on
or before 3:00 PM, Tuesday, March 16.
